Affordable Internet

On August 4, Comcast announced its Internet Essentials program, the nation’s largest high-speed Internet program for low-income families, has connected more than 500,000 families, or more than 2 million Americans, to the power of the Internet in their homes.

As Internet Essentials partners, we are excited to be a part of this historic milestone and share with you some new program enhancements and achievements. First, Comcast has doubled the service’s download Internet speed from 5 Mbps to 10 Mbps for no additional cost. Second, Comcast is offering a free Wi-Fi router to Internet Essentials customers. Third, Comcast announced pilot programs designed to increase Internet adoption rates among low-income senior citizens. And last, Comcast has shown the nation its commitment to digital literacy through its investment of more than $240 million in cash and in-kind support of partner digital literacy initiatives, reaching nearly 3.2 million Americans.
