The Arts
Fine Arts Director: Rose Halloran (Arts & Crafts, Culinary Arts)
Fine Arts Director: Kim Sargent (Performing Arts)

Arts and Crafts is made up of a few different areas. There is cooking on Mondays and Tuesdays, fine arts on Wednesdays, arts and crafts on Thursdays, and beads on Fridays. These areas change from time to time, but this is the main schedule.

Theater is held daily with an emphasis on a major play for a majority of the year. If you would like to volunteer your time with our Arts Programs, please print out a Volunteer Application and Criminal Background Check form, fill them out, and drop them off at our main office.

*The Theater Program is looking for STAGE CREW who need to be dedicated to the job!

The club's fine arts program operates everyday from 4:00 - 6:00pm. Club members explore all level of fine arts, from multi-cultural culinary arts to puppetry. Members work together in small and large groups and receive individual attention from staff and special guest instructors. Members also participate in numerous Fine Arts field trips to plays, concerts and museums.

The members work within the community as well, performing at various venues and sharing their love of art with residents of Greystone Assisted Living facility. As always, for specific projects and topics please see the Fine Arts schedules on the program bulletin board right next to the main office.

Multi-Cultural Culinary Arts & Dining Etiquette
These classes fill up quickly, so be sure to get a signed permission from Mrs. Halloran to secure a spot in the kitchen. In culinary arts, members learn about the nutritional and cultural value of various foods, measure ingredients, prepare dishes, learn how to properly set a table and then (of course) they get to eat their creations.

Fine Arts & Crafts
All modes of arts & crafts are explored on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Members receive instruction and create original artwork in disciplines such as watercolor, pastel, monochromatic drawing. They are also the ones who create the crafts that decorate the club for holidays throughout the year.

Selected fine art creations will be submittied to B&GCA National Exhibit Contest. Works of art in 12 Different categories are eligible for submission. Please see Rose Halloran for details. The Fine Arts Exhibit Program is sponsored nationally by L'OREAL.

ImageMakers Nationsl Photography Program
Funded by the Circuit City Foundation, the ImageMakers National Photography program provides resources and opportunities for all Club members interested in exploring the art of photography. ImageMakers provides local, regional and national recognition through an annual photography contest. Winning photos will be displayed nationwide at museums as well as at B&GCA's annual National Conference.

The goal of this program is not just to learn how to take pictures but to explore photography as an art form by creating their own visual art. Every week members in the program take pictures based on a biweekly theme. Some of these themes are:

Who are you? This theme gives members the opportunity to let them take pictures of their hobbies, family, friends, pets, and other interests and tell their story through photography.

Community. Members will take pictures of their community outside their family. This encourages members to recognize there are people outside our family that serve our needs, and all represent the United States of America.

The Arts. Members of this program will practice color contrast, still life, action photography, shadows and light and explore photography as a style of art by learning patience, observation and arrangement.
