Summer Camp Frequently Asked Questions!

 

  • What is Membership?

As a Boys & Girls Club, we are required to have an annual membership fee of $30 and offer service to members. All programs run at our facility by our staff, including summer camp, require that participants have active memberships. The annual membership fee is $30 and allows entry into our facility. As a member, your child can participate after-school, on days off, and in special events. Please stop by the front office or check our website frequently for information about member activities.

  • What is the Registration Fee?

The camp registration fee is the fee that we require to sign-up for camp. This covers the cost of mailings, paperwork, camper shirts, etc. We require that you pay the registration fee when you register your child for camp. The registration fee is $30 unless you register online. The online registration fee is $15. The registration fee is not our annual membership fee.

  • What is the Deposit?

The deposit is the amount you are required to pay when you register your child for camp to reserve the weeks you want. The deposit is $35 per week registered for. The remaining $115 per week is due by June 1st. The deposit is non-refundable.
Here's the math: $35 + $115 = $150 per week
If you register for all nine weeks you would pay $35 x 9 weeks = $315 upon sign-up.
You would then be required to pay the remaining $115 x 9 weeks = $1035 by June 1st.

  • My child is entering first grade in the fall. What can I do to sign up for summer camp?

Children who are entering the first grade in the fall can sign up for camp. Since we require membership to sign up, you will be required to submit membership forms along with the $30 fee before you register for camp. We will activate your child's membership once summer camp begins and it will be valid a full year from being activated.

  • What is Extended Care?

Extended care is considered the hours before and after camp. We do not charge any additional fee for extended care, but we do ask whether or not you will require it on the camp registration form for staffing purposes. Extended hours are sometimes referred to as pick-up and drop-off times. Hours of extended care are 6:30am - 9:00am and 4:00pm to 6:00pm.

  • What are the Age Groups?

Camp groups are divided up by the grade a child is entering.
Here are groupings:
-1st & 2nd Grade
-3rd Grade
-4th Grade
-5th Grade
-6th Grade
-Teen Camp (7th - 12th Grade - majority of teens are in 7th, 8th, and 9th)

  • Do you offer a Family Discount for siblings?

We do not offer a family discount, but we do provide financial assistance if your family qualifies. Financial aid is first-come first served based on eligibility. Financial aid forms can be found towards the bottom of the camp registration page.

  • Do I have to pay for Field Trips separate?

No. Field trips are included in the price of camp.
* Teens attending the Six Flags trip at the end of the year that are not registered for camp week 9 are required to pay for the field trip.

  • Is Lunch included?

No. Lunch is not provided for campers, although there may occasionally be a cookout or pizza days. Notices will be available regarding cookouts or ordering pizza.

  • Can I register only for certain days?

No. We require that you register and pay for a full week. There is no pro-rate or discount for days not attended.
* Teens attending the Six Flags trip at the end of the year that are not registered for camp week 9 may register for the field trip day only. This is the only exception.

  • Why is the 4th of July week the same price when camp only runs four days?

Although camp is only available four days because of 4th of July, we offer two major field trips during that week rather than one major and one minor field trip as in other weeks.

  • What should I do if a Week is Listed as Full? Is there a Wait List?

If a week is listed as Full, please email ksalemi@salembgc.org with your request and we will get back to you when an opening becomes available. PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER FOR A FULL WEEK or you may lose your deposit. The online registration will not prevent you from registering and paying for a full week, but you will not be registered regardless. If you have done this in error, we may be able to void your transaction under 48hours.
Please let us know if you no longer need to be on the wait list, so we can contact another child when the time arrives. We will contact you up to the day of camp that you are wait listed for.

  • I registered online and never received a confirmation email. Why?

Once submitted online, you should automatically receive an email with your confirmation. If you have misspelled your email address, you will not receive an email. Please also check your bulk mail as some email accounts block us or consider us spam. There is also a possibility that your registration was never submitted or there was an error processing your payment. Please email ksalemi@salembgc.org or call 603-898-7709 ext.22. Never assume that you are registered if you have not received an automatic confirmation email.
